BISPERAS

Way kinutubang pag-antos,
Niining ting-init.
Ang lunhaw nga dahon,
Gitukob na sa yuta,
Mihilak.
Ang dinaga-ang sa langit,
Nag-nunut niining batong buhi.

Nagdag-um na,
Bugnaw ang inagian sa huyuhoy.
Ang panganod,
nagpuyos
ug
maasgad nga luha.

Haduol na ang ting-uwan,
Sa pag-alisngaw sa ugang yuta

Mutuyhakaw...

Mu-usbong ang tanum
Nga hagbay ng
Nalaya...

The still pond represents the permanent and infinite, which could be the universe. The "frog" leaping symbolizes mortal movement, the impermanent jumping into the fray of eternity. Mao kining matanga sa pagka-elemental sa imong balak nga Bisperas. ang mga images evoke certain sensations deeper than what is provided for in the text itself. mas daghan ang pangutana in between the words.

ang balak, in general, sama sa tigmo. dili buot motubag sa pangutana. gusto kining mangutana. sugsogan. maora kini og anino sa kisame nga mokalit lang og labay ug mahanaw. mao kini ang klase sa balak nga imong gisulat. the images evoking strange and hidden sensations by way of conveying elemental images like wind, heat, water, etc. unsa man diay ang matang sa Bisperas ang buot ipanugilon niining balaka? this is the question the poem intends to leave to the reader to answer. the poem ends with a deafening repercussion or reverberation.

But your poem refers to that final hour at the turn of a season. A kind of renewal or tingali "a new lease in life". This is what I like about the poem, it captures that moment of miraculous transition from the images of death and melancholy to a new vista of awakening where the greens robustly bloom to a life regained. The poem does not even try hard to say this. Pinaagi lang sa mga imahen napakita na niya kini nga moment.

This is the purpose of poetry. To capture what is not readily available to the human eye, what is inexplicable to ordinary perception, to superficial cognition. When a butterfly perches on your shoulder, how are you supposed to capture that feeling? A plummeting creature in the air, unsa may gipasabot niana pananglit?

ang balak, dili lang kini matang sa pagdula-dula or a matter of outwitting or teasing your reader. It intends to seduce the reader to something more urgent and powerful such as beauty, desire, fear, solitude, ugliness, etc. imo siyang itukmod ngadto sa pangpang, to the depths of his/her emotions, to an alternate universe erstwhile imperceptible to ordinary vision.

hinaut, ang this goes to the rest of our class that soon, puhon, kon madungagan na ang inyong kasinatian sa kinabuhi ug panulat, walay susama ang pagsabot niini pinaagi sa balak.

uhm yep ace, nabasa na ni nako nimo.
jo, thank you.hihi. ipangumusta ko n lolo...wahihi.

sir ener, thank you kaayo sa pag-gfahin ug panahon mukomentaryo. naa nasad mi nakat-unan. :) naa bitaw mga nangutana kung nganong bisperas ang akong gi-title ani. usahay, it frustrates me, kay basin vague ra kaayo siya. maybe non-sense na ilang tan-aw ani. but then again, hands off na ang writer, the poem must stand on it's own.

ah, yes. sakto ka in saying hands-off. if one intends to be a writer, one should learn to disengage oneself from his/her work once it reaches the hands of the reader.

kay usahay, labi na sa mga bag-ohay pa nagsugod og panulat, masakitan sila sa komentaryo sa ilang mga sinulat, labi na sa mga workshops. dili kini angay. they should think that so much in the writing also involves the subconscious and there may be things in the text that although one never really intended to have an effect, but nevertheless did give a twist in meaning to the poem. so there.

another advantage in disengaging oneself from one's work is for one's safety. try not to think about the work too seriously. otherwise, masakitan lang ka if someone takes up the poem and criticizes it.

i should say that each time I release a piece of work, it follows the same logic as that of setting free a bird into the wild. if you've grown your creature sturdy and strong enough, it may survive the journey and perhaps go to greater heights. but if one released a fledgling and therefore vulnerable to hunters, you only have yourself to blame. but you can always feed another creature robustly for another future flight though. --Hanuarius
